Nature of sodium percarbonate

Post  sherryfu on Tue May 04, 2010 11:39 pm

Also known as sodium percarbonate had two solid powder, hygroscopic, dry stable. Sodium percarbonate decomposed slowly in the air of carbon dioxide and oxygen; rapid decomposition of sodium bicarbonate in water and oxygen. In the sulfuric acid in the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide generated quantitative. Sodium carbonate and sodium percarbonate by the reaction of hydrogen peroxide was used as oxidant.

Sodium Percarbonate is formed by direct addition of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) molecule and hydrogenPeroxide molecule (H2O2) and chemical formula of Sodium Percarbonate is Na2CO3ยท1.5H2O2 .This is easily undersatndable if we read carbonyl chemistry tutorial. Sodium Percarbonate is white crystalline solid having properties colorless, hygroscopic, crystalline solid.
